At UNISON NORPOL, we feel it important that
you get to know some of the people that are there to help you. We think that this
will help you get a better understanding about staff members and their
roles within the branch. We have therefore listed useful staff information for
you to read.
All our stewards have either completed the East Midlands Stewards Passport course to become ERA (Employment Relations Act) accredited or will be expected to do so during their time as a
steward to ensure a high quality of representation for our members.

Peter Lake - Branch Secretary
Peter has been on secondment from PSD as Assistant Branch Secretary since 2007. The main purpose of the secondment was to gain a full time Collaboration rep for the branch, although Peter spends
as much of his time supporting members. He is also one of the branch delegates to the Regional Police Committee and has been the steward for PSD since 2004.
Peter took the role of Branch Secretary in November 2009.
Lyndsay Smith - Assistant Branch Secretary
Lyndsay joined the branch in 2008 to fill the long vacant position of
Publicity Officer and attended training for this role to enable her to
effectively improve branch communication with our members. She has been
responsible for getting the branch website up and running and creating a branch
newsletter to be circulated quarterly. After 6 years in the Force Control room
Lyndsay took up the full time position of Assistant Branch Secretary in March
2010
Steve Walters -
Branch Chairperson
Steve works in SOCO as a Forensic Investigator. He has been a steward since 1998 covering several departments at Force Headquarters and has been Branch Chair since 2003. He is also one of the
two Pensions Contacts for the branch completing training on the LGPS and attending regular briefings on the changes to the pension scheme.

Seckington -
Branch Treasurer
Learning
Officer
Paul has been Branch Treasurer since 2001 and is also an ex Force Headquarters steward. He works in the Department for
Strategic Improvement as an Analyst. Paul has also recently agreed to cover the vacant Learning Officer position, which is responsible for communicating training available to members and
arranging this training for them.
Jenny
Cheney -
Research & Administration Assistant
Education Officer
Jenny joined Northamptonshire Police as the part time
UNISON Research and Admin Assistant in 2006 and in the
same year became the Branch Education Officer responsible for arranging training for the other branch stewards.
Alison
Bucklow - Northamptonshire West Officer
Alison has been Branch Membership Officer since 2002 and is responsible for maintaining the
UNISON membership database (RMS) and processing new member applications and resignations. She will be
retiring from her role as Membership Officer shortly so the Branch is on the lookout for a member to take over this important role from her.
Alison has also been the steward covering Towcester and Brackley since the late 1990s.
Julie
Law - Disabled Members Officer
Julie works in the Criminal Justice Unit in Wellingborough and has been Branch Disabled Members Officer since 2001. Julie is also the steward for CJU Countywide. She sits on the Disability and
Carers Support Network as the UNISON representative and attends annual national Disabled Members conferences on behalf of the branch. She also attends the CJU Diversity Forum and the Diversity
Strategic Board. As well as this Julie keeps the branch up to date with Disability issues within the Force.
Geoff Gascoigne -
Health & Safety Officer
Geoff is the Branch Health and Safety Officer and has been in this role since 2005. He is responsible for advising the branch on Health and Safety issues, monitoring injuries to staff, attending
Force Health and Safety meetings and completing work place inspections on behalf of the branch. On top of all this, Geoff has a full time job in PSD.
Angela Eyton-Jones -
Women's Officer
Angela is our Branch Women’s Officer and is responsible for representing our female members and ensuring equality in the workplace. She is also the steward for
members based at Sketty Close, where she works in the Safety Camera Team, Salthouse Road and staff from the old Operations Department based at FHQ. Angela attends the Force Gender Forum for
UNISON as
well as the annual national Women’s conference. She would also be the contact for members with issues or problems specific to women such as maternity.
Luisa Jepson -
UNISON Welfare Officer
Luisa is the Support Worker in the Northamptonshire West Hate Crime Unit, based at Fish St, Northampton, and took over as Branch Welfare Officer in 2007. She has been very busy in the role and
has gained over £2,500 in welfare grants for members experiencing financial difficulties. She has also supported
over 212 members through hard times and has tried to increase awareness of the assistance
available to members through the UNISON Welfare charity.
Neil Panter -
Northamptonshire West (Campbell Square)
Neil is an Enquiry officer based at Campbell Square front office, a role
he has been performing since 2006. Prior to that he was a Custody assistant for
6 years.
He is responsible for members at Campbell square and custody issues.
Maureen Morris -
Equalities Officer
Maureen has been in UNISON for a long time but only recently decided to
get involved more so joined the Executive as Equalities Officer. She has an
extensive background in race/gender/sexuality issues and is looking forward to
further her knowledge in other equality areas.
Maureen has been very impressed with
the UNISON courses she has been on, in particular the Equalities Officers
training weekend and is looking forward to further training.
She attends many of
the forces Diversity forum meetings and actively involves herself in equality
matters. She is the Area Co-ordinator for the Special Constabulary.
Michael Roche -
PCSO Representative (Kettering)
I joined the force 3 years ago, working as a PCSO firstly in
Wellingborough and for the last year out of Kettering. Prior to this role, I worked 5
years for the MoD Police as a Civilian Security Officer. Between 1978 and 2002, I
served in the Armed Forces.
I am new to UNISON and am very much looking forward to
working with you all.
Pete Middleton - Senior
PCSO Steward
Pete is a PCSO based in Northampton and working out of Weston Favell
Station. In addition to his work as a Steward, Pete represents UNISON members
interests at Uniform Advisory Group and Mobile Communications Steering Group
meetings.
