Introduction to Welfare and our services
I would like to introduce myself as the Welfare Officer for the
Northamptonshire Police Branch of UNISON. As the Branch Welfare Officer, I
am the point of contact for any member who is having any issues, whether
at work or at home that is impacting upon their general wellbeing. |

can help in these difficult times appears in this month's In Focus and

This may involve sickness,
stress, bereavement, financial hardship or anything else that is affecting
a person's physical and mental wellbeing.
Once contact has been made with myself, either directly by yourself or via
your area representative, we can discuss any issues you may have and how
the Welfare Charity and myself may be able to help you with support and
practical help. It may just be a friendly ear that you need and I'll
always make time to meet up for a chat. You may need support from a
specialist agency and I can help with such referrals. There is also a
range of practical support that can be offered from the Welfare Charity
such as financial loans and grants at times of hardship and wellbeing
breaks. I can help with applications for this type of assistance and also
discuss other avenues of support. UNISON also offers Debtline, a service
that may be invaluable at a time when expert financial advice is required.
I also like to offer support during times of sickness or time off work for
whatever reason. If you are aware of a colleague who has been off work for
some time, then please let me know and I can make contact to see if there
is any support needed and send the odd bunch of flowers!
I hope that in your time with Northamptonshire Police you do not need my
services, but if you do, please to not hesitate to give me a call.
Luisa Jepson.
